Exterior Trim Replacement in Warman, SK

If there is wood or vinyl outside trim surrounding your windows and doors, it can start to wear, warp and decompose over time. Trim in bad shape does not only look ugly, but it can permit water to get beneath the surface and cause more harm. Keep your home in good shape by scheduling repairs and replace trim so the outside of your house looks more attractive. Call Handyman Connection of Saskatoon for an estimate on exterior trim repair and replacement.

Should I Replace My Home’s Exterior Trim?

As you walk around your house, check for any cracks, holes, damaged, loose or decaying wood. This will help you decide whether you can repair the wood, if you need to replace individual sections or need to replace all the trim around doors and windows. If wood isn’t deteriorating, significantly deformed or majorly broken, a professional can make a few expedited repairs to return trim to pristine shape.

Exterior Trim Options

Wood

Wood is the most common substance for outdoor trim. Wood is available in either solid boards or finger-jointed sections. Finger-jointed wood trim is just shorter wood pieces that fasten together. It’s easy to install wood trim and takes paint well.

Plastic

There are two main types of plastic trim, polyurethane and polyvinyl chloride (PVC). Polyurethane is somewhat more expensive, but more dense and ready to paint. PVC must be sanded before it can be painted.

Fiber-cement

Fiber-cement combines cement, sand and wood-fiber reinforcement. It’s durable, fire resistant and resistant to water and insects. Most fiber-cement trim is moisture repellent, which means paint will last for a long time.

Laminated veneer lumber

Layers of wood veneer in a parallel granule and two veneer cross bands are covered by an average thickness veneer to make this substance.

Hardboard

This trim is formed from hardwood chips that are heated with steam and water and then pushed into board stock. During this process, lignin found in wood will begin to flow again and serve as paste to hold the board together. This makes the hardboard more resistant to deterioration than wood.
